Well, we went to the playground to fly a kite yesterday, and I think the weather may have set a record for least wind ever. The kids still had a great time!
Eric had a great time, too!
The reason we have a kite now is that the little one earned it as a prize at school for being a good friend. We, of course, are very proud, and she, of course, wanted to fly it immediately.
While we're waiting for the concrete to cure, things are quiet around the house. We went to the park last night for a game of catch and some quality playground time.
Today was gorgeous! I tried a new recipe for dinner that was fantastic, and then we walked to the playground. You can see the little guy over in the sand in this picture.
Both kids have skinned knees. I guess that's another way to tell that it's getting close to summer!
I figured the kids needed to get outside, so we walked to the neighborhood playground for a short play break this afternoon. It was pretty chilly, but they had a blast.
As nice as it has been to have an extended break, I think we're all ready to get back to our routine tomorrow morning. We did start the year with a trip to the park. It had cooled to the low 50s, but still!
The little guy has mastered pumping his legs on the swing!!
The kids rode their bikes (sort of) to the playground tonight after dinner. The baby 'rode' for about three feet. Then Eric and I carried her bike and helmet the rest of the way. On the way home, I carried her bike, her helmet, and her for a little bit. I don't think that's how this is supposed to work.
The little dude did a great job! I'm so glad we put the training wheels on his bike-- I think he's getting a lot more comfortable with hills and with pedaling.
I've been on my own with the kids since Friday evening (and will be through tomorrow), and we've been doing pretty well. We went to the playground before dinner tonight. The little guy rode his bike there.
And the baby had a blast on the swings, as usual.
She's so funny. (And we're definitely ready for Eric to return!)
The weather was beautiful today, and I am exhausted. (I ran six miles, volunteered at a 5k, and mowed the lawn-- my poor legs!) I did manage to wander to the playground with the kids after dinner, though. We had the place to ourselves, and it was lovely.
The little guy took this video-- try to ignore his heavy breathing. We had a great time!
I bought the little one an adorable summer dress yesterday, and she hates it. (I'm hoping she changes her mind.) Even though she refused to put it on, she insisted on carrying the dress and bag with her all day... even to the playground.
It felt ridiculous to be at the swings holding this stupid little boutique bag, but she was happy.
It was a beautiful evening, so after dinner we walked over to the neighborhood playground. Almost everyone else in the neighborhood did, too! We had a great time chatting with our neighbors and watching the kids play.
I took the kids to Grandview National Park a week ago. It was the windiest day ever, but they had a great time. The baby insisted on sitting in a big swing-- but no pushing!
We went to a different playground than usual on a walk the other night. The kids were thrilled! This picture captures what taking them to a park is like these days-- they are all over the place, each heading their own way.
The little guy had ridden his bike to the playground and left his helmet on, in case you were wondering.
