Football, Part Deux

A couple weeks ago we blogged about the Stinker wanting to play football all the time.  It really wears me out with all the falling and getting back up.  Doesn't he know I'm getting too old for this.  I only have limited stores of athletics left.  They have to last me for the whole year and I try to save as much of them as possible for summer softball.

Anyway, here is a video of Australian Booger rules football.

Speaking of football, this is hilarious.

Snow?!?

It snowed today (thanks to Hurricane Sandy)! The little stinker yelled out "BRRRRRR!!!!! IT'S COLD!!!!" when we left the house this morning. Anyway, here he is posing in front of the snow that I decided to photograph from the warmth and safety of the kitchen.

Goodbye Baseball Season

Here's a picture of the little dude eating his birthday cupcake:
Anyway, tonight he was sort of singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." His lyrics were, um, perhaps an improvement?
Take me out to the park,
Take me out to the ballgame,
Buy me some crackers and applejacks!
At that point, we dissolved into laughter and missed the rest of his song. Crackers and applejacks? What a nut!

Cake Pops!

I had a fit of craftiness and made jack-o-lantern cake pops for the little booger's birthday (with a lot of help from my very patient mother-in-law). Thankfully, they were delicious! After seeing us scarf them down for two days now, the little dude asked for a cake pop instead of a cupcake after dinner tonight.

This kid cracks me up!

He's Three!!

It's hard to believe that it's been three whole years since this little guy joined our family...
Time flies when you're having fun-- and it's been a fun three years. Happy birthday!

A Good Night!

Two awesome things happened tonight.

1. The little guy got cake after finishing his spaghetti. Look at that intensity (and those fork skills!).
2. After dinner, we were "Boo'd" by an anonymous neighbor. The doorbell rang and the only thing there were some spooktacular Halloween goodies! We'll pass the Boo on to two more neighbors tomorrow.
Life doesn't get much better than cake, fruit snacks, and a glowing green pumpkin!

Drawing with Chalk

It was really nice outside this evening, so we went outside and drew with chalk. His drawings are so much more intentional now-- not just random scribbling. Tonight, he drew a big ol' truck. Here's the back end of the trailer:
Then he borrowed the camera and took this artsy shot of his chalk bucket:
He kept asking us to draw a fire drill. We asked him what that looked like and he said "lights and people crying." I guess that's what fire drills are like at daycare! Hilarious! Eric did his best (with Beau's help) to draw a flashing alarm and a crying person.

What?

The little guy came sprinting up to us tonight during our FPU class at church to ask this very important question: "What's the weather going to be like tomorrow?"
Self-Portrait in Extreme Closeup, 2012
Eric said "What are you, ninety?" Those two are ridiculous.

Tackle or Tickle?

If there was confusion between tackling and tickling on the field, football games might be even MORE entertaining!

Yummy!

The little booger and I tried a new recipe from my cousin's food blog. The little guy really enjoyed mashing up the turnips and mixing together the quinoa cakes.
He pronounced the mixture to be "yummy" while raw (yuck!) and then refused to eat them once they were cooked. I, on the other hand, refused to eat them raw and thought they were delicious when cooked!

No Privacy

The little booger came to my doctors appointment today and accompanied me to the bathroom. Fun times, right! The poor nurse found two, um, used specimen cups in the bathroom instead of just one. She was a good sport and said she'd test his, too.
Now he wants to be a doctor, a nurse-doctor, a dump truck driver, or a pumpkin when he grows up.

Trendoid?

I am going to have to stop listening to our local top 40 station in the car... the little booger is learning too many pop songs! He was asking for music videos tonight by singing some of the song so we'd know what he wanted. We watched some Justin Bieber and Psy tonight. He's also been singing Everybody Talks by Neon Trees while wandering around the house lately.
We're starting to be REALLY careful about inappropriate lyrics (Flo Rida, I'm looking at you) now that we've realized he's paying so much attention!

Poop Is Funny

We have this free drawing app on the iPad that has "stamps" that you can use in your pictures. The little guy loves the dogs and smiley faces. A lot of Halloween stuff has been added recently-- like spiders, spiderwebs, skulls, and poop (for some reason). Here's what happened tonight:
Eric and I were in tears we were laughing so hard. We share such a sophisticated sense of humor.

CHAPSTICK!!!!

I keep a tube of chapstick on my bedside table, and the little booger loves to borrow it.
His application technique could use a little work, but I still think he's pretty cute.
On the other hand, it's kind of gross that we share the chapstick. I wouldn't share chapstick with anybody else (especially not someone else who licks it).

Ah, Football

I didn't take a single photo this weekend, so here's an older one of him in a tub.
The little booger and his dad spent a good amount of time playing (and watching) football this weekend. The booger's rules are: touch the ground; throw the ball; and tackle somebody. After Eric got tired of playing, I offered to play catch with the football-- no tackling mommy. The little stinkpot looked at me and said "But Mommy, that's what football players do!" So we didn't play. What a stinker!

Tato!!!

Meet Tato.
Hi!!!
Tato (possibly short for Potato?) is the newest member of our family.  Well, at least I think he is, though I'm not really sure when he arrived.  One morning this week he was just sitting on the kitchen table.  That morning the silly goose came downstairs, hopped up on the bench, and screams, "TATO!!!!" like he'd been missing for years.  Now every time he sees him it's like, "Hey Tato!" or "Look! It's Tato!" or "Come on, Tato!"

Tonight when he was heading up for bed he stopped and ran back into the kitchen.
"Let's go Goose.  We've got to go to bed.  It's getting late."
"I gotta get Tato to his home!"
(blank stare)
After much ado, we finally get Tato to his home and laying down (which, please note, is tough for Weeble People).  Observe:
Yep, Tato now resides in the goldfish canister.  I guess you could say... he's sleeping with the fishes.

Sorry.  Couldn't help myself.

Chairs!

We finally found some dining room chairs (on sale!) we thought would look good with our pink table (it's taken a loooong time), and the new chairs came in the mail today. Don't they look sharp? The far side of the table has a pink bench. It's amazing.
Some of the cardboard that came with the chairs fit nicely on the little stinker's "big old truck." He had a blast playing with the cardboard, and I had fun ogling my our new chairs.

This and That

The little guy stopped running the bases tonight so he could squish an ant. It's going to be awesome when he does that in Little League. Also, do you like his batting glovesmittens?
We also read (three times!) a really cute book about Halloween. Yay!

Thursday Mornings

I just wanted to say that Thursday mornings are still the best mornings at our house because that's when the garbage truck comes.
In other news, this early morning darkness needs to go away. I'm not done with summer!

Reading is Amazing

One of the little booger's favorite books was a gift from my brother and sister-in-law. It's really cute and has a ton of words in it. One page always cracks me up, though, because it has a picture or Mr. Owl waiting for the rabbit children to come outside and play. I bet he is! Ha!
Hopefully the little guy will share my warped sense of humor.

The Quiet Box Saga

I got a note from the little guy's teachers on Tuesday saying he needed a Quiet Box. It's a great idea-- a small box filled with toys he can play with quietly if he's not napping at nap time. We didn't have time to go buy a box (and we'd just recycled all our shoeboxes), so this is what I gave him to fill up Wednesday morning:
He looked at me and said "Mommy, that's a tupperware. It's for cookies. I need a Quiet Box." (My blank stare goes here. What?) I even wrote "Quiet Box" and his name on a piece of painter's tape to stick to the top! What more could he want?!? We finally compromised on the tupperware being an appropriate temporary Quiet Box on the condition that we go to the "big box store" this weekend and buy a box.

Every night this week he's talked about the stupid quiet box and how his isn't a real one. I got his quiet box out of his cubby on Friday afternoon so we could replace it this weekend, and one of his little friends stopped me. "You're supposed to leave the Quiet Box HERE!" he said. (I can't win.) My adorable child corrected him "This isn't a real Quiet Box. We're going to buy a Quiet Box this weekend that's just like everyone else's." (sigh)

Saturday was the big day, and we found exactly what he wanted in the second (yes, the second) store. We even got him some stickers and stuff to decorate his box! So, here's the proud owner of an acceptable Quiet Box:

Dogs and Duckies

The little dude has been taking sleeping lessons from Sadie, apparently.
The corner on the landing is her sanctuary.
Here's what we found when we went up to bed last night:
He was in the hallway upstairs, waiting for Eric to get home (I think).
In other news, the little stinker has been asking for stuff by saying "Look! My computer says I can have poptarts for breakfast/more raisins/more orange juice/ice cream/etc." He holds up his little hand and points to an imaginary screen. Most of the time we say no, but sometimes it's so cute that he's hard to resist!

3 More Turns!!

As we documented a couple weeks ago, we've been playing Candy Land in the evenings.  The little guy loves to play.  We even got Pops in on the action Monday night.  The other post understated the amount of the game that the kid will let us get through.  It has been at most 3 turns each.  Being the competitor that I am it is a little annoying, but then I realize that there is no skill required whatsoever.  The only thing that would hinder you in this game is being color blind.

Well I was determined to get through the game tonight when Goose asked me if I wanted to play.  I shuffled the cards and we got started.  Turn 3 came and went for each of us.  Then turn 10, then 15.  "We might get through this," I thought to myself, "and I am winning!!"  I was shoving cards in his face one after the other to get to this point, but then he abruptly said "I'm done," and picked up our gingerbread men.  We were seriously only 10 squares from the finish.  So I noted where we were and played out the game.  (Stupid kid woulda won in 3 turns.  Grr!)
There's the orange square!  Here's your next card!

Future Marc Jacobs?

I signed the little guy up for a "big brother" class at the hospital... we were the only family to go, so it was nice and short and completely focused on him (and his ornery self). The only project he was willing to do was to color an outfit for his little sister to wear.
She's going to be one stylish little lady!

So Demanding

The little booger helped take the dogs out tonight. He really wanted to take Sadie, but he still doesn't weigh half of what she does, so he was stuck with Beau.
Should I say that Beau was stuck with him?

Pops is visiting tonight (yay!) and the little stinker wanted to play Candyland. Pops got to enjoy the experience of each of us taking three turns and then putting the board away. I don't know why he doesn't want to finish the game! He almost won this weekend, but put it away early. Goober.
