Ha! It's my favorite time of year. The robins are singing, the trees are budding, and the most hope filled day of the year is upon us. Okay maybe not the most hope filled (Easter anyone?), but today is a close second. Opening Day!!! All the teams are tied for first with hopes of still playing baseball in late October (a little of that hope has already faded as our beloved Reds are already a game back of the hated Cardinals). Unfortunately I now have a job and couldn't sit around in my Reds hat and watch 15 straight hours of baseball.
The boy even got into the spirit today. He popped out of his room this morning with a baseball shirt on and when we got home he wanted to throw a ball around. We listened to the game on the way home from daycare today. Listening to the Reds on the radio is always a little nostalgic for me. I remember my mom and dad letting me listen to Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall as I went to sleep when I was little. Now my little guy is listening to Marty too!
Here's the big one after dinner and a game of catch.
Our Little Boogers
Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

A First!
The little guy made dinner tonight entirely by himself! Seriously, he did everything except putting it in the oven and taking it back out. He even set the table!
The awesome part of this was that he did all the work himself. The awful part of this was that he did all the work himself and it took FOREVER!!! He was thrilled with himself, though, and even ate the carrot sticks from the carrots he peeled (I helped with that part).

Toddlers.
This little cheese ball insisted on painting with the wrong end of the sponge. She absolutely refused to turn it the other way.
Toddlers are ridiculous.

So Lonely
The kiddos are off with Nana and Pops right now, and I miss them SO much! It's weird not having to watch out for our little climber every waking minute…
Can't wait to see them Saturday!

Supermodel
Remember the Jill Sobule song Supermodel? (One of my all-time favorites!) Anyway, I think the little guy has a career ahead of him in Lego-modeling, if that becomes a thing. He specifically asked me to take this series of photos to show all four sides of his latest creation. He'd pose and say "Now!" to let me know when to snap the photo.

Tiny Couch
Eventually, we're going to need a bigger couch. Our little tiny love seat still works for now, though, but just barely.
I think this photo turned out pretty well given that I balanced my little Elph on the mantle and put it on self-timer. Not bad!

Sunday, Sunday
Both kids have grown more than an inch since January (wow!), and we needed some bigger shoes for their not-as-little-anymore feet. The baby had her adorable new church shoes on this morning with her (matching) new spring dress, so I had to snap a picture.
See the stain-stick in her hand? She took the top off and stuck her finger all the way down the middle of it-- which is why this is the *only* picture that I took. Off to the sink!

Happy Spring!
It was (fittingly) a beautiful and sunny day today, so I made everyone go for a walk after dinner. We headed to the playground, and nobody got hurt! Hooray! For some reason, the little guy carries his bike up this hill, which is hilarious. A couple eating dinner on their porch was cracking up as we strolled by.
The baby just wants to go up and down the stairs on the slide now, while the little guy won't play on anything else! Here's what that looked like tonight (no injuries is a big deal here!).
In other news, this old fellow isn't doing very well, but he enjoyed his walk to the park and getting some love from a few neighborhood kids.

No Injuries, Please
During the 30-Day Shred workout video, Jillian Michaels says "No injuries, please" and it always makes me laugh. I'm going to have to start saying that to the little guy. Shortly after this picture was taken, he fell and bit a hole on the inside of his lip on the handle of his bike.
Today at daycare he fell off a scooter and split the other side of his lip and also bruised his chin and forehead. We think he's growing since he's falling all over the place these days… Hopefully we'll have "no injuries, please" tomorrow.

Happiness Is...
… chocolate ice cream after a parade!
We met a friend downtown on Saturday to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and had a blast! There was a parade, we ate barbecue, and the weather was perfect. It was a wonderful day.

Cheerios!
I usually put a handful of cheerios in the stroller when we go for evening walks. It was sleeting tonight, but the baby wanted her post-dinner cheerios. She ate them out of the stroller seat in the living room (weirdo).
When I was taking pictures of her doing that, this happened:
The little guy was talking about jokes tonight, and I asked him if he wanted to hear a knock-knock joke. He said sure!
Me: Knock-knock.
Him: Who's there?
Me: Interrupting cow.
Him: Hahahahahahaha. Funny joke, mom.
Um, ok?

Doctor, Doctor!
During the baby's breathing treatment this morning, the little guy got out his doctor bag and took her temperature, looked in her ears, gave her a shot and a bandaid, and then listened to her breathing. It was so cute! It gave her something to look at, too, so she didn't fuss as much about the mask and the noise of the nebulizer. Wahoo!
The green hat, in case you didn't know, is the kind of hat that doctors wear.

Cantaloupe!
I had to take the baby to urgent care tonight-- she was wheezing a ton! She's doing better now (sleeping, even). Since I didn't get any pictures tonight, here's one of the kids helping me cut up (and eat) a cantaloupe yesterday.

Weather Fail
We went for a walk after dinner tonight… it was gorgeous outside, and it's supposed to storm overnight and be cold and rainy tomorrow.
Well, apparently "storm tonight" meant "unbelievably sudden torrential downpour beginning when we're two blocks from our house" because that's what happened. See the red? That was our walk.
We ran all the way home (Eric carried the bike) but were still wet through. All five of us toweled off and snuggled up to watch an episode of Pingu. I'll check the radar before suggesting we go on another walk (sorry, Eric).

Candlelit Dinner
Who says we need to get away from the kids to have Italian food by candlelight? The baby thoroughly enjoyed her pasta.
The little dude didn't touch his pasta, but he did a fabulous job "sniffing" the candles after dinner was over.

Daylight!
We took advantage of the time change and went to the playground after dinner. The little guy rode his bike and then put it in the bike rack. This is seriously so cute that I could just melt.
We were all playing by the swings when the baby took off and headed for the slide. The little guy has gone down this slide maybe once… it's really high. She just climbed right up and slid right down. To save face, the little dude spent the rest of the evening alternating turns with her on the "scary slide" (which is what he called it, bless him).

Nana and Pops!
We have some visitors this weekend… Nana and Pops! The kids snuggled with Pops to read last night...
… and snuggled with Nana to read more this morning.
Can't wait for tomorrow!

Brrrr
I put the baby's coat in the wash this weekend right before we needed to go somewhere (whoops!). It was cold outside, so I dug the little dude's old coat out of the closet and put it on her. It was a little big on him the winter that he was one, but words fail to describe how much too big it is on her:
This picture doesn't even really do it justice-- she was swimming in it. Her regular coat is clean again, so this one is back in deep storage. Maybe next year?

Beau-Beau
Poor Beauregard has 10,000 nicknames-- we call him Beau, Beau-zy, Boses, Beau-zy Schmoe-zy, Boses Smoses, etc. The baby calls him Beau-Beau, which is adorable. Here's a video of him waiting so, so, so very patiently. (And all for naught.) Poor pup.

Parallel Play
The little dude is only allowed to play with legos (the ones for bigger kids, not the duplos) on the dining room table because the baby puts everything in her mouth. He spent some time playing with them after dinner tonight, and the baby spent the entire time circling the table on her scooter like a scene from Jaws.
If Jaws had been this cute, though, you would go in the water again! (hahaha)

Safety First!
The little guy needs a new bike helmet-- his is looking awfully small. It's still a bit big for the baby, though, even though she loooooves wearing it.
The little dude wanted to be part of these pictures, too. What a ham!

The poor baby could've used the helmet this evening. She was climbing the stairs, slipped, fell, and now has a massive goose-egg on her forehead.

Books and Cuddles
Now that the baby is a bit older, she likes to snuggle up and read with the older one. Even though she's texting instead of following the plot, it's fun to cuddle up and read a story together.
