Our Little Boogers

Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

Six months old (two days late!)!

He's six months old now, which is amazing. Time flies and etc. We've tried twice now to get a new version of the football picture and failed. Here are our attempts.

First, I tried on his *actual* birthday. He was more interested in wrestling the football into submission and sucking on it than posing.

I think I'll let his dad's attempt speak for itself:Happy 6-months old, kid!

It's starting already...

I think we need to childproof some things asap.
He was very interested in Madden 2005. His dad will be so proud!

Places to go...

He's really trying to get places. He can travel short distances by a combination of spinning and rolling, and he kicks like a pro!

Crazy kid

Apparently, the little guy thinks his dad's chin is delicious! He latched on today while being burped, and stayed there for a while. Luckily the camera was close by and I managed to capture this special moment.
When he stopped, he was all "What? Why are you two laughing?"

He also accompanied us to the driving range today. He played while we hit some golf balls. And tonight when we put him down in his crib he looked around, rolled onto his belly, and fell asleep. Wahoo!

While the cat's away...

Well the little booger's mom is out of town on business so I got to take care of him today. This means I get to dress him in the outfits I want!!

I think he was a little surprised that I managed to feed him and dress him and get him to the doctor on time. But then again, he's surprised by his feet.

Pears!

He had pears for the first time yesterday morning.
He's getting slightly more methodical about eating-- he seems less surprised with every bite. He's also started watching us eating with great interest.

The part he's the best at is sucking the mess off his bib. He's very serious about it, as you can see.

His sense of humor is genetic...

This morning, he grabbed my arm, grinned, farted, and then giggled. He's definitely my son-- nothing makes me laugh like a fart.

Give peas a chance!

He had his first homemade baby food this morning-- pea puree from the book "Cooking for Baby." I think it was a hit!
He's really fascinated with the spoon. He like to grab it and put it in his mouth and pass it from hand-to-hand. He ends up covered in food. His high chair is so cool (thanks Nana!). It pulls right up to the dining room table, so he can sit and eat with us! It also adjusts into a booster seat and eventually an adult chair that holds up to 300 pounds. He's almost 15 pounds right now, so I think this chair will fit him for a long time. This is him pre-pea.
The green peas, green sleeper, and green high chair were a coincidence, though. He won't always color-coordinate with his food.

Our little guy is growing up!

Well, tonight was a first for the little booger. We put him down in his crib and left him alone while we picked up around the house some and got ready for our days tomorrow. He started playing quietly and after checking in on him every several minutes we eventually found him sound asleep! This is the first time he has fallen asleep on his own. Most of the time he gets bounced by his dad or fed by his mom in order to drift off, but not tonight. The sandman paid the little guy a visit without any help from us!

He's growing up; bittersweet.

Solid food!

The little guy started rice cereal on Sunday, so he's been eating it for almost a week! The pediatrician said that he can start other foods now, too, so he might get a little beef or chicken puree this weekend. Yum!
He ate two tablespoons of rice cereal at daycare today, and they said it seemed to take the edge off of his hunger. He'd been drinking almost 20 oz. a day, so he's ready for the solids.
After he eats, he stuffs his bib in his mouth and sucks some of the rice cereal off of that. It's pretty gross but wildly entertaining. The big dog is already learning to pay attention when he's eating, so we've been crating them to avoid the little dude getting licked to pieces.
We went to the pediatrician tonight because he has thrush. Luckily we (his dad) caught it early and it should clear up in no time at all. He's not uncomfortable or anything, either, so that's good.
We're going to a chocolate festival this weekend, so I'll get to eat a lot of chocolate and the boy will get some pureed meat. Sometimes life just isn't fair.

TGIF!

Well, we made it through a whole week of going to work/school every day! Nobody got sick-- which feels like a minor miracle. The little guy looked so cute this morning in his overalls and sweater that I had to take some pictures.
I'm not sure he's a huge fan of the early-morning photo shoot, but that's ok. He poops in his clothes so much I wasn't sure I'd get another opportunity to take his picture in this outfit today. He did make it through the day without an "out of diaper" which is starting to happen somewhat regularly.

He's gearing up for another growth-spurt, I think, because he's eating all the time! He took two bottles in a row today at school after a pretty epic nap.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Easter!

It's beautiful outside today, so we spent a little time enjoying the sun in the backyard. Spring has (finally) sprung.
The dogs enjoy hanging out in the yard, too. We'll sit outside for a while when it's nice out after work.

He tried to eat some grass today. Once he starts crawling it's going to be non-stop trouble at our house.

Let's go 'Eers!

We're back!

After a week of the stomach-flu (not the little guy, just his parents), I'm finally posting some new pictures. He's starting to get mobile, and, while I was in bed and his dad was outside with the dogs, managed to roll out of his floor gym and almost under the coffee table. He also, as you can see in this picture, has found his feet.
He's getting better at sitting, too. He likes playing with his feet, and one of my coworkers got him these cute little socks with toys on them for Easter. He *loves* them. Here he is enjoying them, while I enjoy him!
While we were sick he had a lot of, um, independent playtime. It's really cute, though, because he's often happy to just wiggle around on the floor. He can kind of go places with a fairly random combination of rolling and squirming. Pretty soon he'll be climbing the walls!

"Hi everybody!"
