Eric is a Cowboys fan (booooo!), and he is working on making the little dude one, too. So far so good (or terrible, if you ask me).
The little guy was doing that all during last night's game. Hilarious!
Our Little Boogers
Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

Christmas Morning
We had a nice Christmas (last week... sorry for the delay). Santa brought the little booger "applesauce (like you get at Chick-fil-A), chocolate, and some doctor things." The baby slept through the opening of presents.
That meant that the bigger one got to open (and break in) her toys. So here we are playing with a baby toy. There's a mirror on the side we're looking at.
The giant child also got a pretty amazing garbage truck. We all have had fun playing with it-- it really compacts trash! I think we're pretty much at capacity for large trucks now (hint hint).

Tummy Time!
Tummy time for the baby has turned into a family affair.
When the big one got bored, he put his policeman action figure down on his tummy. The big brother, the policeman, and the baby can all turn their heads from side-to-side while on their stomachs, in case you were wondering.

Lucky Boy!
One nice thing about having a mom from Florida is that she is just as excited as a three-year-old when it snows!

Let it Snow!
We went outside to play in the snow today, and somebody was not a fan of the cold and windy weather...
Somebody else had SO MUCH FUN!!! I think we'll go sledding tomorrow...

Sleepyhead
The little guy did something tonight he hasn't done in a looooong time: he fell asleep on the way home from dinner and didn't wake up even though a change into pajamas and being put into bed. Wow-- he was tired!
Baby girl and her big brother played together the other night for the first time. She spat out her pacifier and it literally flew through the air. The boy started laughing and then stuck it back in her mouth. When she spit it out again, he laughed even harder and stuck it back in her mouth again. This went on for about 10 minutes... he was cracking up hysterically and she looked a little confused.
This is from a rare nap last week. |

Outside Weather!
It didn't rain this afternoon (yay!) so we went on a walk to the playground. The little one is over eight pounds now, so I can use the front carrier. It's *so* much easier than the stroller when we have the dog with us.
When we got back from the playground, the little guy rode his bike almost to the end of our street and all the way back.
In other news, Santa came to our neighborhood on a fire truck this evening! Last year I thought our row of townhouses was burning down, but I remembered that it was probably Santa when we heard the sirens this year. We made it outside in time to get a wave and a very jolly "Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!" from the man himself.

Head control
The little one is starting to be able to control her head somewhat. And by somewhat I mean a little more than a poorly stuffed rag doll. Here is an old fashion video.
Pops is in town too so he is spending some fun time with his newest little granddaughter. I think she actually laughed on purpose some this evening. Is that even possible? Pops was blowing in her hair and she produced a huge grin. Melted her daddy's heart. But then she spit up...ugh.
Why are you taking my picture? |

Band-Aids
The little guy takes after me with his love of band-aids. (My grandma gave me band-aids for my third birthday.) We only give the little dude a band-aid if he's bleeding, so he's started getting a little creative with his understanding of blood. The other day, he told me there was blood inside his finger, so he needed a band-aid. Here's what he did today:
And here's the end result:
The little girl isn't impressed with what a sucker I am.

Weddings!
We got to introduce the new one to about a quarter of her extended family at a wedding this weekend (congrats to the happy couple!). The big one spent the night dancing with his cousins (no photos of that, sorry!) and the little one got to snuggle with her great-grandmother. Everyone was happy!

Growing and Changing
The little one spent some time today looking at her mobile-thing. It's the first time she's been interested in it!
The big one enjoyed another visit to the museum/play-place down the street. Those visits will probably be a daily occurrence for the next couple of weeks.
We were the only ones at the museum at first. One of the volunteers was explaining the rules to a group of kids who came in after us, and she mentioned their foam tires as one of their cool toys. The little dude heard that and sprinted over to the tires. When I got there, he was stacking them up. He looked at me and said "Mommy! We have to put these away so nobody else will play with them!" He has such a giving spirit.

Blur?
This is the bestonly picture I got of the big one today. He was remarkably well-behaved all day-- and we did a lot of stuff! I'm very pleased.
So pleased, in fact, that we let him have chocolate frozen yogurt with m&ms for dinner.

Big Brother
We went to a local children's museum today. It was really fun! One of the other parents asked the older one if he liked his little sister. He said "Well, all my baby sister does is poop in her diapers. She just poops in her cloth diapers." What a smug little realist!

And here's a cute photo from this weekend of everyone-but-me asleep on the couch:

The Sun Did Not Shine
The One Who Talks looked out the window today and recited the beginning of The Cat in the Hat. (The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play.) He did take advantage of a break in the weather and went on a ride in the country. That's pedaling his trike in the grass as opposed to the driveway. Here he is returning from his trip.
The little one continues to be cuddly and little.

Squee!
One of my fashionable aunts sent the new one the cutest outfit I've ever seen. See?
I think she's adorable, although her horrified facial expression shows that she clearly doesn't trust me.
In other news, the little guy thoroughly enjoyed a chocolate-chip cookie last night.

Christmas Parade
Despite Eric's best efforts to talk the boy out of it, we went to the Christmas Parade downtown this evening. It was raining pretty hard, but it wasn't too cold out. All the pictures I took look pretty dark, rainy, and miserable, but we had a good time.
Although the new one wasn't impressed...

Wise Man?
The little dude has been assigned the role of a wise man in our church's Christmas pageant this Sunday. Here he is in costume (pre-hemming):
And here he is how he looked the rest of the day... with a sticker on his forehead. Wise man my big toe!

My Mother's Daughter
I am my mother's daughter. Today, I took both kids (and my poor mother-in-law) outside in the cold because it was sunny. Anyway, the little one wasn't a huge fan of something, so she cried. Sometimes when she cries, the boy runs over and says "What's wrong, baby?" right in her face in a loud, high-pitched, sing-song voice. It's hilarious, but less than helpful.
We did finally go back inside-- look at the relief on her face!

Familiar Faces and Places
I took this picture of Number Two today...
and it looked familiar. I went through our old photos and found this picture of Number One dated from when he was almost two weeks old. I'm already in a rut.

Doctor, Doctor
After saying goodbye to my parents today, the little guy played doctor. He likes to give us shots with his needle. Luckily for us, his "needle" is the not-at-all-sharp antennae for a remote control car. Phew! Here's Eric being a good sport:

Christmas Train
We took the Santa Express train ride today with my parents and both little ones. The giant child was enthralled with the train and the engineers. He was glued to the window and almost completely ignored Santa Claus and Santa's elf (who was handing out candy canes).
When we asked him who gave him the candy cane, we got a blank stare. I said "Did Santa's elf give you the candy cane?" and he replied "No. It was some lady dressed up in red and green."
He was like this the entire ride, even when Santa came by. |
This one just slept. |
