Our Little Boogers

Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

Roll the Ball

The baby and her daddy are soooo cute when they play "Roll the Ball"-- except she's even worse than Beau about putting the ball in her mouth and keeping it.

Movie Night!

Eric attends a Bible study on Sunday nights, so I'm home with the kids for dinner until bedtime once a week. We usually have a smorgasbord of leftovers for dinner (yum) and then watch something on TV. The little guy LOVES our 'movie nights'-- this week both of them enjoyed a piece of chocolate and an episode of Pingu.

Radioactive

Two things:

  1. Eric has been driving the kids to and from daycare, meaning that he is entirely in charge of the music they are listening to.
  2. Eric was alone with the kids tonight, so this amazing video happened on his watch.

In case you don't know this song (Radioactive, by  Imagine Dragons), here's the official music video. You might think that would be hard to top, but here we go!

Education

We learned something from the little dude yesterday-- teeth aren't considered bones! They're learning about skeletons and such at school. Now that you know the little guy is an expert on bones, please enjoy this video:

Hungry Baby!

The baby ate her entire dinner (chicken parmesan and spaghetti noodles) in about the time it took me to eat my first bite. She cleaned her brother's plate, too, and even had a piece of cake for dessert. Somebody's getting bigger!

Romance

We had a candlelit family dinner to celebrate Valentines Day, and the little guy loved it so much that we've eaten by candle light every night since!
It's been kind of fun and very relaxing to have such a nice ambience for our evening meal, although looking at these pictures makes me think I need to buy new tapers soon.

Perilous!

Superman was in grave danger this morning. He spent the entire night dangling from the door handle, but was rescued during breakfast (phew!).
I think stuff like this is the true sign of a house with little kids-- random artwork taped to walls and toys in strange places.

Supermodel?

These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago, but the baby wanted to wear my scarf. I tied it (very loosely) around her neck and she was thrilled!
She spent the next ten minutes or so strutting around the house with her nose up in the air.
I don't think she got that sass from me. Look at her!

Style

Rachel Zoe says that "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." Let's see what our kids are saying: The baby insisted on wearing her white patent dress shoes with her flowered pants (very Miami).
The little guy, well, he's very something!

Someone is getting bigger...

First post in a loooong time from me so bear with me.

The little one has finally grown some. It's about time too because she is seriously always hungry. She wakes up and points to her mouth. She finishes breakfast and points to her mouth. She looks up from trashing her brother's lego creation and points to her mouth. How do I know she's grown? She can ride this and (barely) touch the floor!
She has also started dancing. She loved my jazzy version of the ABCs.

Jungle-Eric?

Eric should change his name to Jim, because he's a jungle-jim for the kids (ba-dun-cha!).

Snowmens

The little guy and I built two snowmens yesterday. One was a doctor, and the other was a kid. They both look the same to me, except the little kid got half his face knocked off during the installation of his carrot nose. Next winter we'll try to keep some full-sized carrots around.

Wii!

Today was another snow day, so we just holed up. The baby played with the bug jar and looked out the window this morning. She's such a climber. The little guy was never like that, but we can't keep her down. She loves climbing the stairs and standing up in this desk.
She's so serious in her firetruck pajamas.
The little guy and I built two snowmen today and sledded some more, but the most exciting thing was that we taught him how to play MarioKart! He's been trying to play a Star Wars Lego video game on the iPad, but he's not old enough and finds it really frustrating. I think the Wii will be a better choice. Look at how much fun he had!
I don't know why he's wearing his sister's hat.

Polar Vortex

First of all, go listen to this song. It's hilariously amazing (and so, so true).

The snow here started earlier and heavier than expected, but we made it home without too much trouble (phew!). Because it's supposed to be so icy tomorrow, I figured we'd better sled while we can. I hope the little guy realized how lucky he is to have a Floridian for a mother. His West Virginian dad doesn't ever get excited about playing in the snow!

Olympics!

I think the kids were inspired by the Olympics. The little guy spent the evening playing hockey, and the baby looked like a cross-country skier with her two golf clubs.
Our house isn't huge, but these two always want to play in the same six square inches. It's kind of ridiculous, especially when they don't want to share.

Anyway, the little guy wore himself out playing tonight. I put the baby to bed and was wondering why the boys never made it upstairs. Here's why!

Quack!

The baby got to take a bath alone tonight, and she quacked while playing with her rubber ducky! Her voice cracks me up.

Superman!

The little guy and I walked to the grocery store today to get a few things for chocolate-cake-making. He was super stylish!
In addition to cocoa and powdered sugar, we bought some new nail polish for him. The random dad that was also in the cosmetics aisle was cracking up watching my little Superman pick out glittery nail polish.

Anyway, we made a chocolate layer cake and six cupcakes with pink Valentines' Day frosting and sprinkles! I definitely didn't get my money's worth out of the cake decorating class I took five years ago, but we had a blast.

Bodyguard

The little guy is already a protective big brother-- look at him keeping the paparazzi my camera away from her!
They play together with their kitchen quite nicely (thanks Aunt H. and Uncle M!!). This morning they made me an 8-course meal-- bean soup, ice cream, a taco, fruit, diet coke, and a bunch of other stuff I can't even remember. After I 'ate' it, the little guy told me to put my dishes in the sink. He's learning!

Mail!

It's been a big week for mail in our family-- on Monday the kids got a postcard from one of my aunts (from France-- woot!) and then the baby got a Valentine's Day card from her Sunday School teachers today. She spent a good half hour pulling the card out of the envelope and then asking me to put it back in. We both cheered when she got it out, and cheered again when I put it back. Yay!

Oooo La La

I busted out an old Valentine's Day craft last night while Eric was playing volleyball. The baby took it pretty seriously, and ended up entirely purple (hands, face, tongue).
The little guy enjoyed himself, too. He was pretty entertained by the fact that we used an empty toilet paper roll for a stamp!

Car Weekend

I guess it was just a car weekend around here, because Eric and the little dude took advantage of the gorgeous weather on Sunday to wash the Jeep.
Look at how shiny that car is! And look at those two cute guys!!

Bedside Manner

The kids were playing quietly and together in the kitchen the other night-- a minor miracle. It was SO sweet.
The baby asked for a snack about half an hour after this. When I put her in her high chair I found the syringe in her leggings. No wonder she was walking so funny!

Cars, Cars, Cars

We went to an exhibit of Porsches at the local art museum on Saturday-- it was amazing.
That evening, Eric changed his air filter. The baby didn't step away from the window the entire time he was out there. It was heartbreakingly sweet! She's a daddy's girl, just like her mama.
