Our Little Boogers

Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

Super Baby!

We had yet another sick day (I think we're on the mend), so here's a picture from healthier times. The baby likes to be carried over her daddy's shoulder. She puts her arms out in front of her and says "Super Baby!! Whoosh! Whoosh!" as she flies around.
I know I'm biased, but it's pretty stinking adorable.

Vaguely insulting?

The little dude made me a very sweet card while I was down for the count over the weekend. It says "Dear Mom, I love you" and then has a drawing of Eric and then a drawing of me. Want to see it?
Honestly, I'm a little insulted. Eric gets glasses, real eyes, a colored mouth, a nose, and a beard? And I'm a generic happy face? I think the little guy ran out of steam or got bored with it, but I'm trying to pretend that it's a compliment on my generally sunny disposition. Grrrr.

Sharing is Caring?

We've been passing around a lovely little stomach bug, so we didn't do much besides zone out in front of the television all weekend. Ugh. The little guy (the only healthy one left) took this self-portrait Friday night.
When he turned the camera around to see this picture, he didn't understand why the flash caused such a problem. It was kind of funny!

#tbt

We went out to dinner with some old friends and didn't take any pictures, so here a little throwback Thursday from two years ago.
The more things change, the more things stay the same.

Help Unwanted?

Poor Eric was really enjoying playing Sim City on the iPad. Then the little dude got involved and made some questionable choices. Apparently he's starting to get a lot better, but now the baby wants to play! She actually managed to get the game open on her own tonight.
I don't know how she can stand having that bandaid on her nose, but it makes her happy.

Tower of Babel

The kids worked together tonight to build the tallest tower in the world!
It was a very serious undertaking, and thankfully our version didn't end with the kids being sent to separate corners of the earth.

Indoor Beach

The kids set up an indoor beach this weekend-- a construction paper sun taped to the wall, beach towels on the floor, and drinks with straws (!!!). Here they are eating a picnic dinner on the beach!
It's easier to eat yogurt at an indoor beach than an outdoor one.

Making Them Work!

The kids helped me scrub the living room rug today. I think we might put it back in the dining room. Either way, it was nice having the extra help with the cleaning.
Look at them scrub!

Busy Week

Sorry for the lack of posts-- we've had a really busy week. The kids got up a bit earlier than usual today, so I let them play a bit before breakfast. The little guy played with his Legos (surprise, surprise).
The baby saw me taking pictures and came over to say CHEESE!!

Hair

Even though the baby's bangs have almost grown out, I still don't really know what to do with her hair. She let me put it up the other morning and it was SO cute! The picture on the right is how she came home, though.
What does she do at school? Goodness.

Conversations

We went for a walk after dinner, and I thought we could check on some new construction in our neighborhood on the way to the playground.

Me: Hey, little dude, you know that house they're building around the corner?
Little Dude: The new one?
Me: Yeah.
Little Dude: No.

What!? He makes no sense. Here's a funny-face picture from our walk-- also the moment I realized I didn't wipe the spaghetti sauce off the baby's face. Whoops!

Red Galoshes

The little guy loves his red galoshes. They complete his Captain America costume AND are appropriate for yard work. He helped us rake up nine giant bags of leaves today. The baby helped, too, after she woke up from her nap.
The yard is ready for spring! It's definitely a work in progress, but we are getting there.

Rolling, rolling, rolling

I ran really far this morning (12.38 miles, but who's counting), so I spent a little quality time with my foam roller when I got home. The baby wanted to roll with me, which was definitely super helpful.
She ended up completely taking over and having a fabulous time!!

Artist!

The baby keeps asking to paint at inopportune times. Last night she finally asked when there was still time to do it!
She's so funny-- she's very particular about her art. (Also, that's a piece of chocolate on her nose, not a freckle.)

Running Late

We've been oversleeping all week, so this morning the kids had "poptarts-in-the-car" for breakfast. That means we handed them poptarts and put them in the car. They were thrilled!

Special Stories

We had a very special visitor at the house tonight-- my big brother! We all had ice cream, hung out for a bit, and then he read two books to the kids before they fell asleep. I don't know what it was, but they thought he was hilarious and just giggled the entire time he read.
What a wonderful visit!

Chips!

Who doesn't love a good bowl of chips? Here's our ridiculous little one scarfing some down yesterday.
She makes terrible faces for the camera.

One more month...

Opening day is in less than a month. It was finally warm enough for long enough to have our own opening day at home.
Hooray for baseball!

Snuggle Party!

The little guy threw a snuggle party in our bed this evening. I guess it was fun? It honestly didn't seem that different from our normal "all read in the same bed" routine, but he was happy.
He actually read a lot of Green Eggs and Ham before deciding he was too tired to continue.

Minnie Tomboy

The little one got a hand-me-down Minnie Mouse dress. She's not particularly interested in it, but the little dude thinks she should be. Here she is playing hockey after he insisted she wear it.

Lucky Guy

All of Eric's blueberries for lunch today were hand-selected this morning by the baby.
He's so loved.

Boxes!

We bought a pair of ridiculously over packaged lamps, but the giant boxes have been quite the hit! The little dude turned them into a train on Friday. Tonight they were an airplane.
Look at all those happy passengers!
