Rebar!

We have rebar in a trench! It's very exciting to see the outline of the space. We should have concrete tomorrow!!

Also, I've decided that being a big brother must be a pretty good gig. The little guy put together a puzzle. When I asked him to clean it up, he invited his little sister to "play" with him by helping put it away. She was thrilled!

I'm a sucker

Eric's always making fun of me for being such a sucker when it comes to the kids. The little guy and I went to Build-a-Bear today (unplanned), and he made chewbacca for his sister.

I'm such a sucker.

Snuggles!

The kids really know how to drive each other crazy, but they do get a long the vast majority of the time. Here they are this morning, sitting in front of the television and watching a show on my phone.

Outsourcing

A few years ago, some of my friends were making fun of me for outsourcing everything-- they even said that my CSA was me outsourcing farming. It was pretty funny.

This is relevant because Eric and I have successfully outsourced bedtime stories!

The little guy got these two hats a long time ago, but both kids love them. Here they are being dragons together:

Va-lil-a

The little one loves vanilla ice cream, but she always pronounces it "va-lil-a." I'm going to be sad when she outgrows that. This is what happened when I tried to take a picture of her eating dessert tonight:

Medical Care

The kids decided I was sick a couple of nights ago. Luckily for me, they have a doctor's kit! They took my temperature several times (it ranged from four to two hundred and six, so I was clearly quite unwell). They also took my blood pressure and gave me several shots in the armpit.

After the last of the shots, they declared that I was all better. What a night!

Reunited!

And it feels so good! The kids were really cute when they saw each other this morning. The baby ran over to her brother and just put her face on his face. He gave her a big hug. (Awwww.)

We're heading out of town for a week, so posting may be even more sporadic. However, we bought a new camera today, so we'll start having pictures again.

Gone, but not forgotten...

Well, our camera is missing. It was last seen on Sunday (we think? possibly Saturday?). You'll be getting iPhone photos until it either reappears or we give up hope and buy a new one. Sorry!

We're back!

Last week was a pretty rough week, funeral-wise, but we're back and hoping that the rest of the summer goes smoothly. The kids and I have been playing hide and seek a lot lately. I count to 28 (for whatever reason, that is the number specified) and they hide...

... or she tries to hide, at least. Even when the little guy puts the baby in a hiding spot, she won't stay there. She always comes out to say hello and to help me look. It's hilarious and adorable.

Most Important Meal

The kids have eaten their breakfast at the play table the past couple of days. They like to look at the back of the cereal box while they eat-- the little dude solves the puzzles and the baby repeats everything he says.

Pooky Day

It was a damp and rainy evening, so we watched an episode of Dinosaur Train after having tacos for dinner (Taco Tuesday!). I love how the little guy sprawls on the couch-- shades of his future teenage self.

The Dinosaur ABCs are pretty catchy, if you are looking for a new ear worm.

Yin and Yang

The little guy drew, the baby erased.

They played quietly-- minor miracle!

Secret Fort

The kids put a blanket over their play table the other night and spent the evening coloring underneath it.

The best part was that neither one cracked their head on the table!

Reading!

The little guy read us three stories at bedtime tonight. It was so cute! He's moved up a level in his Phonics Readers, and the stories have a little bit more going on than "Cat sat. Rat sat." so that's been a pleasant change.

Tower of Babel

The kids worked together tonight to build the tallest tower in the world!

It was a very serious undertaking, and thankfully our version didn't end with the kids being sent to separate corners of the earth.

Sweetness

The kids shared the iPad the other night with no bickering! It was such a beautiful moment.

They've been playing really nicely together lately (knock on wood).

Food Truck?

While I was cooking dinner the other night, the kids carried their play kitchen into the dining room and got their own dinner together.

They are on top of this mobile-food trend!

Puppet Show

The little guy wanted me to film the puppet show he put on tonight. I think the baby kind of stole the show.

Show-Off

The little guy built this pretty amazing airplane and followed the Lego instructions by himself! Eric posed him in front of the baby and me, and look at her! (Also, look at the cool plane!)
