Appropriately Dressed

Eric is a huge sucker. (Me saying that is TOTALLY the pot calling the kettle black.) He bought the little guy a pair of baseball pants today while he was buying himself some new cleats. Now the little dude doesn't have to wear heavy sweatpants tucked into his socks in 90+ degree weather!

Coolest Lunch Spot EVER!

We took a little trip over to Carthage today to buy some tires (long story), and we stopped for lunch at the Pik-n-Pig. It's a cute little BBQ place that's at an airport, so you eat outside by the runway while little planes take off and land (and do flyovers with smoke in formation!). It was awesome.

I finally managed to pick up the little dude's soccer uniform today. I had him try everything on tonight to make sure it all fits (we can exchange unworn and unwashed pieces). Look at how cute he is! I asked him to pose for the camera, and this is what he did:

Playground Adventures

We went to a different playground than usual on a walk the other night. The kids were thrilled! This picture captures what taking them to a park is like these days-- they are all over the place, each heading their own way.

The little guy had ridden his bike to the playground and left his helmet on, in case you were wondering.

Picnics and such

I finally had my act together enough to pack a dinner instead of picking up McD's before Eric's softball game last week. Wahoo! Unfortunately, yogurt is a TERRIBLE picnic food. Everything was a mess.

Anyway, I got home the other day from something, and the little dude had taped the following sign to the stroller.

In case you can't read his writing or interpret his spelling, it says "No one is allowed to use the stroller." He was quite worried about other people using our stroller, but luckily I'm not included in the "no one."

Snugglebunnies

Sometimes the baby wants to get in the little guy's bed for stories. Eric tried to take a picture of this tonight-- so first we had a natural-ish looking photo...

... that quickly degenerated into this ridiculous thing (look at the baby's arms! what is she doing?!!?):

Busy Saturday!

Today we had a festival at daycare, the little guy's first soccer practice/game, and Packapalooza! It was a busy, but fun, day.

Toys, Schmoys

Sometimes I don't know why we bother having a play area full of toys! The kiddos spent a whole evening pretending to be hermit crabs and/or puppies:

Well, the little guy was pretending to be a hermit crab and a puppy. The baby was doing whatever he told her to do.

Yogurt-Yogurt-Yogurt

The baby always demands a bowl (or three) of yogurt as soon as she gets home from daycare.

Tonight, the little dude wanted to pose with her. They actually both smiled and looked at the camera at the same time!

At the Carwash!

The kids got to help Eric wash the car this weekend. They had a blast!

The baby managed to not squirt herself with the hose. It was a successful venture all around.

Redneck Baby?

The baby discovered corn on the cob the other night. Please ignore the fact that she's eating dinner topless, and focus on her little pinky. What class! (Every time I look at this picture, Redneck Woman starts running through my head.)

Ending Badly

Eric was pitching from the couch. This situation can only end badly, right?

Anything You Can Do...

The baby wants to eat what her brother eats, go where her brother goes, and play with what her brother wants to play with. It's adorable and kind of heartbreaking all at the same time. Here they are both eating applesauce at breakfast today... applesauce with cinnamon on it!

After this, they had matching bowls of daddy's cereal.

What a Show!

The little guy insisted on putting on a show before we could eat breakfast this morning, which is why you hear the baby protesting so loudly during the video.
He's such a ham!

In other news, poor Beau isn't doing as well as we'd like him to, so our vet asked me to listen to his heartbeat with a stethoscope and report what I heard (like I know what I'm doing...). It turns out that we do have a stethoscope!

Couch Potatoes

It's a stormy evening here, so the kids settled in to watch some Veggie Tales before bed tonight. Look at these two!

Pestilence

Eric had strep throat last week, and the little dude and I got to visit urgent care together yesterday. I have an ear infection and he has a funky virus with some wheezing.

Anyway, the way to make it all better is to eat a bowl of cereal in front of a baseball game on TV.

The baby is the healthiest of us all, but even she got in on the action.

Haircut

The baby had her first serious haircut yesterday-- we went from just-below-shoulder-length curls to a classic bob. I was nervous that we'd regret cutting it, but I LOVE IT!!! Here she is before church this morning:

She's getting to be so big!

Baseball Baby

The baby has started batting! It's all very exciting.
She chases the ball after she hits it instead of running to first base. I hope she sorts that out before she gets to a tee-ball league.

Yogurt Beard

The baby is an incredibly messy yogurt-eater. I asked her to wipe her face after lunch the other day, and she grabbed the washcloth and wiped her brow. It was hilarious, but ineffective. Today she did a much better job.

She's so serious!

For his wedding...

One day, the little dude will probably get married. And when that day comes, I hope to show his spouse this amazing picture of what he insisted on wearing out of the house.

Legos, Legos, Everywhere

Now that the guest bed is covered with Legos, the kids have started playing with the Duplo Legos in the living room. This:

is what they do. These kids just crack me up.

New Things

You may have noticed in other pictures, but we bought a new table for the kids' play area. The poor little dude was using the coffee table/bench as a desk now that he's basically too big for his little desk.  He was standing up and sort of hunching over to color on it. I've been keeping an eye on craigslist and various sales online, but we ended up scoring floor sample (about 60% off!) last weekend. Hooray!

The kids love it, and we love it too.

Door Store

We are getting ready to buy a new front door (shut the front door!), and we took the kids to a magical place called the door store today.

 They were pretending to run a store through one of the windows.

They were in heaven! And, they didn't break a thing! Hooray!
