The little guy LOVES the playground.
Or at least, he did love the playground. He's been falling down on purpose lately (in slow motion), but today he fell down on purpose at the playground... on asphalt. Ouch! He and the baby both cried almost the whole walk home. Speaking of the baby, she got to meet her Gramps today! Awww.Our Little Boogers

Cookies!
The little guy and I made chocolate chip cookie bars today (yum). He licked both beaters... at least until he shared them with Beau.
The new one slept while we baked. She always looks so peaceful when she's asleep, but slightly alarmed when she's awake.

Talk About a Back Seat Driver
We finally turned the little guys car seat around today. Since the little girl arrived the back seat has been a kind of crowded and there isn't as much room for the big one to get into his seat when it's backward. So we turned him around.
We went over to church tonight for the last lesson in our Financial Peace University small group study and that was his first ride forward facing. I guess it's a different perspective when you are moving forward rather than backwards because the little guy wouldn't be quiet.
"I see a stop sign!"
"There's a green light! Now it's ORANGE! AND RED!!!"
"We're on a bridge!"
"Daddy, STOP!!" as a car in front's brake lights came on.
"Slow down, slow down, slow down, slow down, slow down, slow down, slow down, slow down...."
I guess the world looks a little faster coming at you instead of going away from you.
Here's a completely gratuitous photo of the boy and his grandma, both happy as larks.

Negotiations 101
One nice thing about parenting the little dude is that we can still outsmart him on occasion. He didn't want to eat his dinner tonight, and we asked him to eat five bites. He countered with four. We said ok, four, and he re-countered with two bites. We said no, four, and then he said no, FIVE. Awesome! He ended up eating it all, which was even better.
He might look like a genius, but a master negotiator he is not. |
The new one is still doing baby things (and charming her daddy).

Well, well, well
The giant one has started saying "well" a lot before offering up a reason that he can't do (or needs to do) something that we want (or don't want) him to do.
Us: Eat your chicken.
Him: Well, I need some water.
Us: Ok, we'll get you some water but you need to eat your chicken.
Him: Well, well, I, well, I have to eat my roll first and then if I eat all my chicken I can have some Halloween candy?
It can be hard not to completely crack up when he starts with a drawn out "Well...."

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!
We had a nice meal at home to celebrate (and we have enough leftovers to feed an army!). The little guy rearranged the 'supply tower' in the bathroom for the holiday. He's been doing that every time he's in the bathroom. This was the craziest arrangement yet!
He also supplied one of the side dishes.
Lately he's been asking us to each pray at dinner. He wants Daddy to do a big huge prayer, Mommy to do a short prayer, and then he prays to wrap things up. Now that Grandma's in town, she has to pray after me and before the little guy. Tonight, I did my usual "Thank you God for food and friends. Amen." that I learned in preschool. My mom thanked God for the rain that makes the trees and flowers grow.
When it was the booger's turn to pray, he said "Thank you God for the rain" and then whispered "It's not raining" while shaking his head no. It was hilarious... we were all weeping with laughter.

Firefighters!
The little guy is on a real firefighter kick, thanks to an awesome pop-up firetruck he got for his birthday (thanks!). He uses the truck to act out scenes from his books about firefighters. He's such a ball of energy that it's hard to get his picture!
His little sister manages to sleep all of the chaos-- she's a little cuddle bunny right now. We're soaking it up.

Swords!
The child formerly known as the little booger has been carrying the vacuum crevice tool around for the past week. It was a fire hose nozzle, but now he calls it his, um, pants sword. He even took it to bed at naptime the other day.
And here's a happy grandma with the littler booger:

Home Sweet Home
The little booger (the original little booger) has continued taking pictures of things with my camera. Here's his view of his new little sister (our little shrimp?).
He took this great one of Beau:He also captured this self-portrait with trucks in the background:
I think this one is the funniest, though. Mr. Stinkypants didn't want Eric to come inside until he'd had his picture taken. Doesn't Eric look happy and warm?
Good times.

Picnic in November
The Little Booger... Big Booger... Bigger Little Booger... um... Giant Monster Boy has been helping out with feeding the dog lately. We recently filled the dog food bin full enough so he can reach in and scoop out enough for Beau's meal.
He has even more recently began grabbing a handful of food out of the dish and scattering it out on the floor while saying, "Here Beauzy-Schmozy. Here's a treat!"
Yesterday doggie dinner got even more elaborate. Gigantic Godzilla Man-child spread out his favorite blanket and put Beau's bowl on it and declared that Beau was having a picnic.
It may be a little cool outside, but I guess it's always a good time for a picnic.

Found his calling... Finally
We've had lots of posts speculating what my little Goose will be when he grows up. A mechanic? Or how about a stunt man? I think there were others, but I can't remember them all. Well, I now believe he will be a doctor. Ever since our last hospital trip he's been giving his mom and me "shots" with anything that has a pointy end. Below is a picture of the first time he met his little sister. "Hi baby! Ooooo, medical equipment. I have to listen to your big heart, your leg heart, your arm heart, and your back heart."
And for all you wanting some good pictures of our newest addition, here are a few.

Welcome Booger #2!!
Well we woke up early yesterday and went to the hospital at about 2am. After just two hours the newest addition had arrived. Mr. Stinker Pants now has a little baby sister, born at 4am. She was 6lbs and 13 oz and 19 inches; one pound and one inch smaller than her big brother. All are doing well and The Booger is spending lots of fun time with his Nana, and not paying much attention to his new baby sister.
We couldn't be happier with the birth and all the well wishes we've received. I would post some picture of our little girl, but I can't seem to figure out how to get pictures from our iPad to the blog. Sometimes I feel 90. Anyway, we are going home tomorrow and I'm sure we'll get some pictures up then. In the meantime, we are opening up the comments to suggestions for a new blog title now that one little booger has turned into two!

Spoiled
The little dude and I are both being spoiled rotten this week by Nana. She and the little guy played his Chuggington matching game this morning:

Cooking with Daddy
Poor Eric finds the little guy's help in the kitchen to be, um, stressful? less than helpful? I don't know-- Eric doesn't like messes. Anyway, my two guys made pancakes together the other night.
Even though the head chef didn't have the best time, the pancakes were delicious...
... stuff your face delicious! (Spiky hair curtesy of maple syrup.)

Veterans Day!
Happy (almost) Veterans Day, everybody! The little dude and I went to the local parade last night. He's so much fun to hang out with now that he can carry on a conversation. The little stinkpot was thrilled to see two policemen on two motorcycles and five (yes, five) firetrucks.
Other than that, he mostly hid behind me and said everything was too loud. At least it was a pretty short parade!

Heather's Song
When the little booger doesn't understand a word in a song, he doesn't hum and mumble like his Mom. Instead, he substitutes a word that he knows. For example, when he rocks out to Taylor Swift's latest, he sings "We-eee are never, Heather, Heather, gonna clap together." He calls it Heather's Song. Eric finally got him on video singing part of it last night:

Terrible Faces
The little stinkpot has been making an absolutely terrible face lately. It's hilariously awful. I tried to get a picture of Eric and the booger making the face, but the little dude kept laughing.
I did manage to get him on his own... Yikes!

Birthday Money!
The little booger got some money for his birthday from assorted relatives (your thank-you notes are coming!) that he used to buy a front-loader this weekend. He decided what he wanted, picked it out, and even paid for it by himself, and now he can shovel matchbox cars into his awesome dump truck in style.

Halloween! (A Day Late)
Trick or treating was delayed by a day in our neighborhood because of Hurricane Sandy, so the little dude dressed up tonight instead of yesterday. This year he was a cuddly little monster (appropriate, right?).
After he was done trick or treating, he sat with me on the front steps to pass out candy. He's such a fun helper.
The funny thing is that he's really stingy with the candy, but nobody minds because he's little. If I was as stingy as he is our house would get egged (and deservedly so).
Look at those two cuties... |
Happy Halloween! |
