Our Little Boogers

Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

This and That

Here are a few things happening around here:

  • The little guy likes to whisper things to us... it's pretty awful. He has a very damp, breathy whisper and he gets awfully close to your ear. Eric and I both sort of grimace and lean away during his long, involved, and whispered stories.
  • The baby has started saying "actually" all the time. It's actually pretty funny. (See what I did there?)
  • The baby has also decided there are two types of people: tiny and very big. She, her brother, and her mommy are tiny. Daddy is very big. Mommy seriously and strenuously objects to this classification, but has been emphatically overruled. "Mommy, you are a tiny person! Daddy is very big!"
The kids also helped me make pizza the other night. They got ahold of the cheese and put an impressive amount in their mouths (and scattered it around the cheese drawer by accident).

More Jeep?

We had the Jeep towed back to the house to take the bumpers and stuff off of it. It promptly got a parking ticket and will be towed away again tomorrow (to wherever they take shattered dreams and totaled cars). Anyway, the kids were quite helpful this evening.
At least, they were helpful after the little guy tried to bang on the Jeep with a hammer. I know it doesn't run, but please be gentle!

Softball!

Softball season has started, and we went to our second game (as a family) this evening. Eric has played a couple more by himself. Nana and Pops sent the baby a glove and ball in the mail, and the kids spent almost the entire game playing catch by themselves.
The little guy is getting to be ok at catching. The baby still has a long way to go...

Back to Normal

We're still working on getting back to normal after the lightening escapade. Ugh. Part of the return to normalcy was having breakfast for dinner on a rainy day. The baby was covered in Nutella.
Apparently she doesn't understand how to lean in for a picture.

Advertiser's Dream

While the kids and I were in the car today, the little guy and I had the following conversation:

LG: We should have Zerorez come clean our carpets, mom.
Me: What?
LG: We need to have Zerorez come clean our carpets! They sanitize your carpets without using chemicals, making it safe and healthy for children and pets.
Me: What? (pause) We don't have any carpets, buddy.
LG: Well, we should buy some carpets and then have Zerorez come clean them.
Me: Ok, sure.

Once we got home, he looked around and shot me an accusing look. Want to know why? Because we DO have carpets (area rugs) and we haven't called Zerorez yet.
Completely unrelated pic of the kids learning about tornados.
I guess somebody should call them to say their ads are working. Ugh.

Yin and Yang

The little guy drew, the baby erased.
They played quietly-- minor miracle!

Gardening!

Spring has sprung! I went to the garden center this afternoon and picked up some veggies and some new annuals for the planter by our front door. The kids helped me plant the vegetable garden after dinner.
They are wearing mittens as their work gloves. Hilarious.
The baby was able to help out a bit more this year. She used a spoon (trowel) and a fork (cultivator).
We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, parsley, and cantaloupe! I'm excited to see what ends up doing well, and I'm hoping for some yummy cantaloupe.
