The little dude took all of our pictures the other morning. He even took a selfie at the end! Here we are, pre-breakfast, pre-coffee:
Our weekend was busy, but lovely. We went to a back-to-school bash Saturday morning (the little dude rode a pony!), a baseball game last night, and a friends' house for dinner tonight. The little guy is back at kindergarten tomorrow, and the baby is off to daycare with her daddy.
Our Little Boogers
Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

Bikes!
The kids rode their bikes (sort of) to the playground tonight after dinner. The baby 'rode' for about three feet. Then Eric and I carried her bike and helmet the rest of the way. On the way home, I carried her bike, her helmet, and her for a little bit. I don't think that's how this is supposed to work.
The little dude did a great job! I'm so glad we put the training wheels on his bike-- I think he's getting a lot more comfortable with hills and with pedaling.

New Nose
The baby wanted me to read her The Napping House 5,000 times in a row tonight. It's a really cute book, so I was happy to comply.
The little dude built himself a new nose out of legos! It even has a mustache!!

It's Good
We bought a rug for the living room-- it should be delivered on Monday. Yay! The baby saw me measure the room to see what size rug we need, and then she measured the room. She'd stretch out the tape measure carefully and say "Yup. It's good." before rolling it back up.
She even measured the ceiling! It's also good, in case you were wondering.

First Day!
The little guy had his first day of kindergarten today!!
His school does staggered entry, so he won't go back again until next week, but he was SO happy to be there. His teachers told me that he was *very* polite-- which made me very happy!
We all walked him to school this morning. The baby was pretty sad to leave him there, but Eric said she chattered happily in the car the whole way to daycare.

Back to School Bash
We met some friends at a back-to-school bash last night. It had free hotdogs and a ton of inflatables. One of our friends is a really great photographer-- he got these awesome pictures of the kids!
They had so much fun!
Look at that big girl!!

Packapalooza!
We went to Packapalooza again this year, and it was fun! Eric won a bobble-head and a t-shirt by hitting a hockey puck through a hole. And the little guy got a personalized autograph from a student/race-car driver! He was pumped.
They both got ice cream, too, and got to see Tuffy and the Wufs. What could be better!
We went to another back to school festival (with inflatables!) this evening. I'll post some pictures of that tomorrow. In related news, the kids both were asleep in about 15 seconds tonight.

Sim City
Have you ever wondered what kind of zooming capabilities Sim City has on the iPad? If so, please enjoy the following instructional video. (And please ignore the conversation in the background... apparently I'm not fancy enough to edit it out.)
This was also another unsuccessful sales pitch to try to get me to put Sim City on my phone.

Ready for Kindergarten!
The little guy's backpack and matching lunchbag (thanks Grandma and Gramps!) arrived today. He met the UPS man outside-- he was sooooo excited. Look at this big boy!
And look at this jealous little sister!

It's a Show!
The little guy spent part of the evening playing Sim City. He's been bugging me to put it on my phone, but I don't really want to.
Meanwhile, the baby played with a (toy) drill. I was so worried it was going to get caught in her hair, but she managed to avoid hurting herself.

Magic Show
The kids had a magic show at school and they loved it. The baby kept telling us about it, but all she was doing was holding her nose and saying something about a stinky sock. Then she'd bow and say "Thank you boys and girls!"
Ridiculous child.

Perfect Beach Day
We had some business to take care of down near Atlantic Beach today, but we snuck in a nice visit with some old friends and also a trip to the beach. I don't think I've ever seen such a perfect beach day!
The water was so calm that we took the kids out to our waists and let them practice swimming. The little dude actually started ducking under the swells, face in the water and everything! It was so nice that there were people EVERYWHERE in the ocean. We even made some friends while we paddled around.
After they got out, the kids made sand angels. What a mess! We scrubbed them under the ice cold showers by the bath house, but they still needed serious showers at home.

Sightseeing
While at the beach, we took an afternoon to go look at the largest maritime forest on the Carolina coast. It was a nice walk, even though it was soooooo hot!
We also stopped by the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and museum. We didn't climb it-- maybe another time when the kids are taller and the weather isn't as steamy.
This picture cracks me up. Don't know why, but it does.

Medical Care
The kids decided I was sick a couple of nights ago. Luckily for me, they have a doctor's kit! They took my temperature several times (it ranged from four to two hundred and six, so I was clearly quite unwell). They also took my blood pressure and gave me several shots in the armpit.
After the last of the shots, they declared that I was all better. What a night!

Goobers
We went for a nice walk/bike ride to the playground after we got back from the beach. What did the kids do? They played in the sandbox.
Seriously? They didn't get enough time in the sand at the beach?

Beach Bums
The kids loved the beach! It was fun to watch them play in the sand and in the waves. The water was fairly rough all week, so we didn't take them out past their knees. (I went swimming every day-- it was great! I only got rolled by one wave.) Anyway, here are three pictures of each of us being happy.

Reunited!
And it feels so good! The kids were really cute when they saw each other this morning. The baby ran over to her brother and just put her face on his face. He gave her a big hug. (Awwww.)
We're heading out of town for a week, so posting may be even more sporadic. However, we bought a new camera today, so we'll start having pictures again.
