The little guy got to hang out with one of his cousins on Saturday. The two of them had a blast painting their hands and stamping them on the paper.
Good thing it's washable paint!
Our Little Boogers

Silly Mouse
We've been listening to a Kindermusik cd in the car (over and over and over and over and over). One of the stories on this particular cd is Silly Mouse Gets Dressed. Silly Mouse not only puts his pants on his head, he puts his undies on his elbow! What a role model!

Too Cool
How did we end up with this cool cat?
When I walk in the spot, this is what I see... Everybody stops and they staring at me. |

Count!
I don't know if it is good parenting technique or not, but the booger gets a countdown whenever he needs to do something. He's often just slow and needs a little prodding. Like, "Pick a pair of pants, buddy. Come on man, we gotta go. Alright.... One.... Two....." Luckily we never really get to three.
Sometimes he'll even ask us to count when we're not in a hurry. Maybe he's just like his old man and needs a deadline. Here's a video of a new game he made up today. I'm not sure why he needs a count or what I'm counting to, but whatever floats his boat.

Some Firsts
This has nothing to do with the little dude, but I made an amazing steak the other night (for fajitas). I've never cooked a steak this well, so I'm going to take a moment to show off. Yummmm....
In other cooking news, the little booger got to lick his first (icing) beater this weekend. It was from Mississippi Mud (another yum), and he was a fan.

Total Rockstar!
The kid is a total rockstar. He's got the look, right? (This outfit is so ridiculous on so many levels... I was weeping with laughter while trying to take his picture.)
He really likes to sing while "chooming" his guitar. For some reason (which is probably genetic), he makes up nonsense words to songs that he knows and thinks it is HILARIOUS. He had just sung Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star with the real words, but this is what he did for the camera:

Two Peas
The little booger and Beau are turning into two peas in a pod.
Two peas in a pod full of danger, that is. Why can't the little guy copy our dogs' good habits? Habits like... um... well... that might explain everything.

Yo!
The little booger has been enjoying Yo Gabba Gabba as a distraction during his current round of breathing treatments. Here we are both watching it intently:
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a fan of the show, too... I'm hoping that the little stinker still likes it when Halloween rolls around. Can you picture the little guy as DJ Lance Rock? It would be AMAZING!

Trains and Nana!
The little booger's Nana kept him today so that we could go to work. They had a BLAST. The little dude gave his Nana a hug this evening and said "Thanks for playing baseball." It was soooo heart-meltingly cute.
He played with his trains a lot today, too (as usual). He's started carting trees around in his train cars just like he's seen in this video.

Keep Calm?
Have you ever tried to get a two-year-old to "take it easy" once they're feeling better? We are totally failing at that:
Luckily, the little dude and his daddy share a love of watching baseball. Although the little guy is a bit more fidgety than his dad, it's nice (brief) bonding time for the two of them.

Feeling Better!
I took the little guy to the pediatrician yesterday, since his fever was still high and he'd started wheezing. After watching him breathe, the doctors put him on oxygen and ended up sending us to the ER (yikes!). We were admitted for an overnight stay at the hospital, but got sent home this morning (yay!). This is what feeling better looks like:
And this is what I look like after a terrible night's sleep at the hospital:
The little guy said he'd be quiet and nap with me, but he's completely incapable of that at this point in his life. It's nice to be back home.

And He's Sick
The little guy came down with a high fever and a bad cough yesterday. He stayed home with me this morning and with his daddy this afternoon. It's no fun having a sick kid, but it's really nice that he's able to tell us how he feels (as opposed to just crying). He got to eat a popsicle and watch two episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba this morning-- part of my do-whatever-the-sick-kid-wants care taking strategy.

Thanks, UPS!
We were fortunate enough to see the UPS truck make a delivery last night. The big truck even went right by our house while we were outside. Not only did the delivery woman wave AND honk the horn for the little guy, she actually stopped and opened her door to talk to him! It was so sweet!
In other news, the little guy spoke some very profound words tonight when he finished playing with his daddy's tie bar. He gave it back and said "Here you go. It's broken, because I fixed it."
Anyway, here he is wearing a sweatshirt he put on himself. He couldn't figure out how to zip it, so I turned it around for him.
Also, happy birthday Eric!

Fancy!
The little booger decided that his water needed a little pizazz tonight, so he garnished it with a magnetic N.
Pretty snazzy!

Fashion Plate?
The little booger looked really sharp for Easter...
... but then returned to normal with a creative shorts-over-sweats ensemble.
On the way home from our small group tonight, the little guy announced (out of the blue) "I don't see a bat." For some reason it really tickled our funny bones, so we spent a good part of the drive home discussing other things we weren't currently seeing-- such as elephants.

So Big!
Whenever we get home from a walk, the little dude likes to walk around to the back door all by himself.
His independent streak and his new haircut combine to make one big little two-year-old.
He got a sucker for sitting reasonably still at the barbershop.

Opening Day!
Hope your opening day was as good as Eric's was! Not only did he take the afternoon off to watch the Reds (and take his first baseball nap of the season), he had the joy of watching the little booger practice his baseball skills.

Down by the Bay?
The little booger asked for some watermelon last week. We didn't have any, but it was on sale at the grocery store this weekend so I bought a small one. I cut it up and took some outside-- he was so excited! And...
... it was pretty gross. It does seem a little early for watermelon. I guess it is.

Burrito!
Skippyjon Jones is a favorite around here, mostly because of the secret chihuahua password which is half-sneezed, half spoken ("Aaaa-aaaa-aaa-chupichu!"). In honor of those books, I've been making a burrito out of the little dude after bath time. It's a good way to dry him off and a nice way to sneak in a cuddle or two. Plus, I get to hear him say "I'm a Rito!"

Plumb Tuckered
Not that his cousin wore him out or anything...
... but the little guy tried to take a nap in Beau's crate during a break in play. On a related note, this "acting like a dog" business is getting ridiculous. On Saturday, he pooped at the park-- in the grass-- which was my lowest parenting moment to date.

Happy April Fool's Day!
We had a nice, prank-free day (so far). I got to hang out with the little guy and his older cousin all day yesterday-- at their request I drew an enormous train on the patio in chalk. Here are my two guys admiring it this evening:
