Our Little Boogers

Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

Dog Days of Summer?

Our dogs love food (it runs in the family) and the little booger loves to help feed them. We always make the dogs sit and stay before they can eat. To release them from their sit-stay, we clap and say "OK"-- the little dude is a champ at that part.

Healthy Self-Esteem?

Welcome to our breakfast table.

To me, it sounds like he's saying "Mommy, I'm a gerbil." Also, we really needed to run the dishwasher (that's why the poor little guy was eating out of a tupperware with a massive spoon).

Polka Dot Day!

Today was polka dot day at daycare. This is a continuation of the Fun Fridays that gave us Camelot Day. And once again I decided to get creative (last night) and make a polka-dotted shirt (with two sharpies). It turned out much better this time, though, don't you think?
Also, check out that sock puppet! It says ROAR!!!

We had a nice visit with my parents over the weekend. Here they are hanging with the little dude before I dragged my mom off to spend three hours at the DMV. (sorry mom)
Other than the DMV, we had a good time.

It's a scandal! It's an outrage!

I am doing a horrible job at keeping extra clothes in the little booger's cubby at daycare. I think they're trying to shame me into remembering... this is how the little stinker came home.
In case you didn't notice, let me point out that his borrowed lederhosen won't snap at the crotch because they are too small. Perhaps this will spur me to be better about keeping tabs on his cubby. (We'll see!)

The little booger asked me to read a book "again?" this evening. When I started to read it again, he stopped me, held up his index finger and said "One more time" very slowly and seriously. I guess he understands what I mean when I say that at bedtime.
He's a sponge.

Just when you think it's safe...

We had a couple of boxes behind the chair in our living room. We stashed them there thinking it would be none-too-noticable. But the little dude figured out that he could stand on them and peer over the chair.
Look that that silly little guy!

Sacked Out...

The little dude took a pretty epic nap today.

I'm so jealous.

One of my biggest disappointments in life has been that neither of our dogs will play fetch (ok-- I've been pretty blessed). But who needs the dogs to play fetch when my kid will?

Life is good, my friends.

Serious Business!

The little stinker was sleepy this evening. The result was that he was very serious at dinner. Look at how serious he is about his couscous and green beans!
In other news, I finally figured out YouTube's video editing... so here is an (interminably) long video of the little booger jumping:

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

This little dude got up at three o'clock this morning. That wouldn't have been bad, but he got us up, too. That means I've been up since three o'clock this morning... and I'm feeling a little incoherent.
He went to bed at 7:30. I plan to be in bed at 8:30. Good night!

Jumping Jehosaphat!

I was going to write about our little yogurt-monster tonight, but then the little stinker jumped! He's been working on it for at least a month and he finally got both feet off the ground at the same time today!!! More than once, too! I don't have any photos of him jumping, though, so yet another yogurt-y picture will have to suffice.
I do have this video of him trying to jump last month (it was too heartbreaking to post then, but now that he can jump it's not as sad):

If this video is any indication, I may have spoken too soon about giving the little dude a decent haircut. With or without his terrible hair, I think he's hilarious.

Berry Picking!

The little booger was surprisingly helpful when we went blueberry picking this morning. We had a great time-- and will definitely do this again. The little guy spent the first few minutes sampling the goods.
He also enjoyed wandering around with his very own bucket.
By the end, though, he was really getting down to business. Look at him go!

The adults in this house love us some Chick-Fil-A and, luckily, the little booger does too.

Thursday, July 14, 2011

I was away on business for two nights earlier this week-- which was long enough for the little booger to devolve into cave-toddler behavior. He's a rampaging and shirtless Godzilla!
I should be counting my blessings that he's improving, though. Here's what he looked like while I was gone (he was under the careful supervision of his dad, Pops, and fun college-student cousin):

Splish Splash

The little booger and his cousin got to take their baths together Saturday night. There was screeching, laughing, splashing, and a ton of this face for both of them:
What fun! (The giant lump on his forehead was from the playground incident.)

Monday, July 11, 2011

Our new refrigerator has the freezer on the bottom. The little stinker loves to open the freezer and let the cold air blow on him. (He's his daddy's boy!) One day he'll figure out where the ice cream is, and then we'll all be in trouble.

Sunday, July 10, 2011

We managed to go a while since his last giant face-plant... until last night. He slammed his face into a wooden step at our neighborhood playground. It looked a lot better this morning than we expected, thank goodness.

Guard(ian) Dog?

Poor Sadie tried to keep the little booger from climbing down the stairs today (the baby-gate is coming soon!) I swear she looked at me like "I tried to stop him, but you know how he is."

Tickets to the Gun Show?

The little booger already understands the importance of weight-training...
Sometimes, though, exercise is best done while sitting down.
It's important to check your form when you're doing intense weights.
But whatever you do, don't forget to cheese for the camera!

Mean Mommy

I wouldn't let him drink Coke tonight, which was clearly a HUGE tragedy.
Boo, hiss.

DIY Champ!

The little stinker has been looking like Carol Brady lately, so I decided to cut his hair tonight. My mother-in-law gave me a quick hair-cutting lesson as well as scissors and a comb, so how bad could it be? The answer: Not that bad!
He got some hair in his mouth, which he didn't like, but it looks alright!

Sunday, July 3, 2011

The little stinker has been eating so many blueberries that he's dyed a few of his diapers purple (for real).

Earning His Keep

The little dude enjoyed his breakfast thoroughly today. He needed the energy because...
...we put him to work this afternoon. It's about time the little dude started pulling his own weight around here.

Playground Fun

Our new neighborhood has a playground. We walked over to check it out after dinner. The little dude climbed around a bit, threw some sand, and didn't bleed at all!
That's what we call a successful evening.
