Dressing Herself

The not-really-a-baby insists on dressing herself. Here she is, checking the paper before heading out:

Fashionista

The baby is still insisting on only wearing clothes that are "twirly." She's ridiculous.

And adorable!

Dressed for Work

The baby borrowed one if Eric's ties yesterday so she could go to work.
She's so chic!

Style Icon II

The little guy used to wear the best outfits (still does, sometimes), and now the baby is interested in accessorizing. Like her necklace? This started out as an acoustic rendition of Shut Up and Dance, but ended up like this:
Brava!!

Dress for Success!

This is how the little dude dresses for pretty much anything:
We don't let him wear the baseball pants to school, but he's definitely worn them everywhere he can. What a goofball.

Late Softball

Usually I don't take the kids to games that start after 6:30, but since we've had such a sad week we blew off bedtime and went to a 7:30 game tonight (living large!). The baby was styling tonight.
The little guy wants to play sooooo badly. It's heartbreaking. The umpire asked if he was playing, and the guys on the team called him their secret weapon. (They are amazingly sweet guys.)
After the game, the kids ran the bases and then we got ice cream. It was a late, much-needed, fun night.

For his wedding...

One day, the little dude will probably get married. And when that day comes, I hope to show his spouse this amazing picture of what he insisted on wearing out of the house.
Here's an action shot-- he did this in slo-mo, by the way.
I can't wait!!

Ninja!

We should probably invest in some dress-up clothes, because this is the little dude's homemade ninja outfit:
I can't even with this kid.

Weirdos

Our kids are weird. The baby's new favorite snack is a piece of bread. No butter, no jam, no peanut butter-- just a slice of plain old whole wheat bread. Yum?
Meanwhile, this is what the little dude wore to school today (minus the football helmet catcher's mask). Can you tell that he's a baseball player?

Vogue (vogue, vogue)

The baby was rocking her brother's sunglasses yesterday. Her face whenever she put them on just reminded me of Vogue (that is, if Madonna had baked beans on her face). I'm so proud.

Supermodel?

These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago, but the baby wanted to wear my scarf. I tied it (very loosely) around her neck and she was thrilled!
She spent the next ten minutes or so strutting around the house with her nose up in the air.
I don't think she got that sass from me. Look at her!

Style

Rachel Zoe says that "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." Let's see what our kids are saying: The baby insisted on wearing her white patent dress shoes with her flowered pants (very Miami).
The little guy, well, he's very something!

Superman!

The little guy and I walked to the grocery store today to get a few things for chocolate-cake-making. He was super stylish!
In addition to cocoa and powdered sugar, we bought some new nail polish for him. The random dad that was also in the cosmetics aisle was cracking up watching my little Superman pick out glittery nail polish.

Anyway, we made a chocolate layer cake and six cupcakes with pink Valentines' Day frosting and sprinkles! I definitely didn't get my money's worth out of the cake decorating class I took five years ago, but we had a blast.

Christmas Finery!

Our church had a big Christmas-y service tonight, and the little guy sang in the youngest choir. It was adorable. Both kids were dressed in their fanciest clothes, so Eric tried to get a nice photo of them by the tree. Although the little guy makes the strangest faces, all the pictures Eric took have a beautiful softness (from a haze of peanut buttery fingerprints on the camera lens).

Snuggles

Every once in a while the little guy wants to snuggle "like a baby" and I always stop what I'm doing to cuddle him right up. It's the best!
By the way, the baby wore the cutest outfit in the world yesterday:
She didn't want to be put down-- that's why she's crying.

Puzzling

The baby is starting to put things places. She spent a good half hour the other night moving rolls of tape between three containers. She's also taking the dinosaurs out of this puzzle.
She can't put them back yet, but she'll get there.

In other news, the kiddos went to church looking like this last Wednesday night (except with their eyes open):
That boy is ridiculous. To be fair, those bows are no more useful in his hair than in the baby's.

These boots were made for walking!

The baby had a diaper incident at school today… and apparently I forgot to update her extra clothes with the change of season. This is how she looked when we picked her up (minus dinner on her shirt-- she got that at home).
She's standing like a champ now, and can even walk three or four steps on her own. Where has this year gone?!

New Clothes!

We splurged and bought the kids each a new shirt the other weekend (big times!)-- and it was chilly enough to wear them today!
I can't tell if the baby is thrilled or terrified in this picture. She's probably a bit of both, plus a whole lot of adorable.

The little dude came with me to vote this evening, and the guy at the registration table asked if he was really Captain America. The little dude whispered "Yes."

Say What?

So, this video is apparently THE BIG THING in pre-kindergarten. The other big thing is wearing your shirt backwards (reminds me of Kris Kross).
Back to the video-- it's amazing, and I love it. I'm thinking we could make some awesome family Halloween costumes from it, too. We were watching it tonight after dinner, and Eric filmed us. I'll go ahead and quote him here-- "Enjoy the amazing cinematography."
