Our Little Boogers

Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Today we loaded up the fam in my.. err.. our new Jeep and headed down to a local nursery to pick out a Christmas tree.  This year we decided to get one with the roots so we could plant it after Epiphany and make Christmas a little greener.   Emily had visions of our little family walking through the fields and the little guys picking out our live tree.  In reality, the booger just wanted to go watch the fire in the 55 gallon drum.  It was cold so I can't blame him.  We finally got him over to the trees when we found one we wanted.

"Hey buddy!  Do you want this tree?"
"No!"
"How about this tree, Stinkerpants?"
"No!"
"What about that tree?  Wouldn't it be a nice one?"
"No!  I wanna go see it (the fire)!"
"(sigh) Fine."

Eventually we picked one, against the kid's wishes, and brought it home.  When we got home we tried to get it out of the Jeep and into the garage and "Oh, my back" was that thing heavy.  Luckily a neighbor saw us struggling and came over to help.  We got it out, but man is my Jeep muddy now, which usually is a good statement, but not when the mud is in the new carpet!

Now we needed to get a basin to put the Christmas tree in so Emily measured the root ball and we headed to Lowe's.  We picked one out and brought it home.  Eventually we decided to try to get it in the house by ourselves and after a good half hour it was finally in its place, except the basin was too small so it doesn't really fit right.  Check it out below.

I hope that is some strong plastic.  I bet the bottom is hovering around 5 inches above the ground.

All in all it was fun and we'll have the tree for as long as we are in our current place.  Here it is after the trimming!  Merry Christmas to all!
