Our Little Boogers

Sharing our lives: two kids, two full-time jobs, one old house, and plenty of love and laughter. And baseball.

Walking and Talking

I've really been enjoying walking to and from school with the little guy.
He chatters the whole way-- and I get to know whatever's on his mind!

Photographer and Trickster

The little guy has always liked taking pictures; pictures of himself, his family, his legos, still life, or.... the dirt on the floor. There are pictures and pictures on the iPad and his mom's phone of a whole lot of nothing, mostly half his head and the ceiling or whatever he was watching on TV. I found, though, that if you scroll through some of those "episodes" fast enough, he's actually made a movie.

Here's a couple of his still lives (lifes) from after I got back from the grocery store.

And here is a selfie, with an absolutely adorable photobomb.

In other news, the little guy's Kindergarten teacher brought cupcakes for her birthday for all the kids to enjoy one day last week. We got an email from his teacher asking if he was allergic to vanilla.....

What?

So the boy told her that he was allergic to vanilla and that next time she would need to bring chocolate cupcakes so he could have one.

That child.

In the Kitchen

There's nothing better than making cookies on a cold, rainy day. All four of us helped out this afternoon.

The boys cracked eggs.
The girls dumped stuff into the mixer. (I don't know what the little guy is doing here.)
Everything was delicious!

Couch Time

It rained all day today, and it's supposed to keep raining through TUESDAY!! We'll probably be sick of being indoors by then, but tonight it was lovely to sit on the couch together and rot our brains in front of the television.
In this picture, I had just gotten back from taking our seminar speaker to dinner after work. I'm so full that I might just head to bed now!

Rawr!

The little guy got these two hats a long time ago, but both kids love them. Here they are being dragons together:
They are so funny when they play with each other!

How to Get Ready: A Primer

We found them! Here are the five steps to getting ready, according to the little dude.

1. Get naked and yawn.
2. Take a shower.
3. Get dressed.
4. NO CAVITIES!!
5. Leave.
And there you have it.

So Big

I ordered birthday shirts for the kids today-- with a 3 and a 6! Can you believe it? Even though he's a big old kindergartener, sometimes he just needs me to hold him.
Unfortunately for me it looks ridiculous, even though it's pretty cuddly.

Step 1

The little guy made an illustrated "How to Get Ready for School" booklet this morning. I can't seem to find it, but when I do I'll post a picture. The best part of it was the first step.

Step 1: Get naked and yawn.

I'll repeat-- this was an illustrated guide. He's so funny.

It's FALL!

Ok, it's not quite fall, but it's gotten into the low 50s at night this week. Eric loves to leave the windows open and freeze the rest of us out. Here's what the kids looked like at breakfast this morning:
Poor little things...

Va-lil-a

The little one loves vanilla ice cream, but she always pronounces it "va-lil-a." I'm going to be sad when she outgrows that. This is what happened when I tried to take a picture of her eating dessert tonight:
The green stuff is play-doh, in case you were wondering.

Grrrrrrrowl!

The kiddles pretended to be dragons tonight, then bears, then puppies, then lions. They built themselves a pretty cool cave on the couch!
What a cutie-pie! I mean, what a terrifyingly ferocious creature!

Beach!!

We are at the beach for the weekend... But it's a work trip (sort of). The kids were so funny when we got here. They ran into the condo and started gushing about the beautiful view. It was such an odd thing for them to say, but wow are they right.

I'm Hiding!

The baby likes to hide. She'll say "Look at me-- I'm going to hide!" She's been getting better at hiding, though. Here she is hiding on Sunday:

And here she is hiding earlier this afternoon:
That's actually pretty good!

Low Joints

My grandmother used to joke that she learned things at her mother's knee and other low joints.

Speaking of low joints, my mom got a brand-new knee last week, and the baby and I are helping take care of her for a week! By taking care, I mean insisting that grandma read books!

Say what?

I've been having fun with the little man since the girls have been gone for a whole day. It's really crazy. Now that the girls are gone, the love being produced in my heart greatly exceeds the demands of production. The poor little guy has to bear (...bear? bare? bair? behr? I'm too lazy.) the brunt of the overload.

That's all beside the point though. This has been happening tonight...

Me: He man, could you turn on the light over there?
Boy: Sure.
(walks over and turns on the light)
Boy: Nailed it!

(Boy is watching TV and his show ends. He turns the TV off.)
Boy: Nailed it!

Me: Hey Crazy Pants. Do you want some more pizza? (Thanks Jake Arrieta (CHC) and Dominos, by the way)
Boy: Yes please.
(Pizza is put on his plate and he takes a bite.)
Boy: Nailed it!

What? ... Just... what?

I guess it's already started; bad influences.

Emily got our first call from school today. Seems as if the playground jumped up and tripped the little guy. He's fine though and, as you can see, has a mouth full of pizza and some sleepy eyes.

Chocolate

I made some cupcakes and a small cake (from this amazing recipe) the other night. The baby decorated the cupcakes with stars.
The little guy not only decorated the cake-- he also licked the icing beater!

New Rug!

A couple of weekends ago I ordered a rug that was on an unbelieveable sale (like, so good that I texted Eric while he was grocery shopping so I could go ahead and order it)! It finally came in the mail today... and we all love it! Yay!!!
The little guy is coming home from kindergarten exhausted, so we've had two very relaxing evenings this week. They watched a Daniel Tiger tonight, took a bath, and then went to bed.
